WHAT’S HAPPENING! COMMUNITY NEWSPAPER

What’s Happening! was a community newspaper based in Buffalo Grove that served several zones. If focused on local news and fostered community togetherness. I worked there as the Production Manager and Graphic Designer, making ads and layouts for every zone, as well as processing ads.

THE NEWSPAPER

The newspaper had multiple zones. Each paper largely had the same layouts and common pages, but local news and ads were unique for each zone.

MEDIA KIT

The media kit was designed to be inviting and clean. It featured each available zone and described the advantages of subscribing and advertising in the paper.

ADVERTISMENTS

I designed the majority of advertisements that appeared in the paper. I would work closely with the sales representatives and create unique ads for each client.

Sky Fitness

This is a full-page ad for Sky Fitness gym. The original ad was entirely text and had too much information, so I boiled it down to only pertinent information and found a bold picture to give the ad some pop.

North Shore Brewery

This is a quarter page ad made for North Shore Brewery. They were a company that specialized in helping people brew their own beer. I designed the ad to have a warm and personal feeling that would encourage people to make their own beer.

Turbodog Yoga

I made this quarter page ad for a yoga studio. I used the fire from the logo in the background of the ad to create a feeling of determination and intensity.
